TOPS Playground Rules
- Students are expected to obey directions given by all supervisors and adults while on the playground. Students are not allowed in any of the play areas without adult supervision.
- Stay within playground boundaries and away from off-limit areas. The Rogers Playground bathrooms, gym, tennis courts, field area behind the tennis courts, planting areas, portico, steps, landing and upper sidewalk areas are off-limits. Students may not go past the wooden posts at each end of Franklin St.

Follow game and play equipment rules:
- Slide DOWN the slides; do not climb up.
- One way only on bars.
- Swings must be shared. Approximately 4 minutes per turn. Line up for the swings along the fence.
- Stay off the toddler swings and the blue-slide playscape.
- Tetherball rules are the following: No holding the ball or rope during play. No stepping on the other player’s side of the circle. If these rules are broken, the player is out. Students standing in line are the judges, and their majority vote decides if a dispute arises.
- Do not carry pens or pencils on the playground.
- No throwing or picking up dirt, sand, woodchips, rocks, or sticks.
- Do not climb on rock walls, fences, railings, ledges, dirt hills, or the column in Rogers Playground.
- Kickball, soccer, and other ball games should be played on the field, not on Franklin St.
- No eating or drinking outside.
- Respect other people’s space. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. No play fighting, wrestling, ball tag, or dodge ball.
- Be courteous and a good sport.
- Speak respectfully to each other.
- Enter and exit Rogers Field via the stairs on Franklin St. Do not use Louisa or Roanoke.
- Remember that we share our play areas with the community. Be polite, but please don’t speak with visitors or play with animals on the playground.
Rogers Playground Safety & Stewardship Guidelines
- No throwing sand, wood chips, or rocks.
- Do not climb on the pillar.
- Slide DOWN the slides, do not climb up.
- Use the ramp and center stairs. Stay off the hillside.
- Stay off the toddler swings and blue slide playscape.
- Students are not allowed in any of the play areas without adult supervision.
Consequences
If you do not follow the rules above, you will be subject to the following disciplinary actions:
- Time out
- Lunchroom detention
- Referral to the principal's office
